Last week at ICRA 2025, Rugged Robotics proudly received the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Award for Product Innovation. This achievement reflects how far field-driven innovation can go when it’s built hand-in-hand with builders.

The IEEE Award recognizes commercial robotics products that push the boundaries of technical excellence, creativity, and real-world impact. For Rugged, this award speaks to the heart of our mission: bridging the gap between digital design and jobsite execution with practical, precision-driven automation.

Rugged Robotics was born from a simple, powerful idea: layout could be better. Not just faster or more automated—but smarter, more accurate, and more aligned with how crews work. That idea sparked the creation of Mark1, our autonomous layout platform designed to take fully coordinated 3D models and bring them to life on the slab with <1/8” precision.

Since then, Rugged has evolved into a full-service layout solution trusted by some of the biggest names in construction. From major projects with Suffolk Construction to confidential high-tech builds nationwide, our robots are helping teams cut layout time by up to 60%, reduce rework by 75%, and streamline project delivery.

Winning the IEEE Robotics and Automation Award is a milestone, but it also validates the path we chose: listen to the field, build with the field, and never lose sight of the people doing the work.

We’re honored to be recognized alongside companies like Apptronik and Ambi Robotics, and we’re more energized than ever to keep pushing the limits of what’s possible on the job site.
